CourtPOS Pilot Implementation – Broadmeadows Magistrates’ Court
Working with the Magistrates’ Court of Victoria (MCV) and Strategic Executive Solutions Mikani Pty Ltd delivered a pilot implementation of CourtPOS, a cloud-based Point of Sale (POS) solution designed to modernise and streamline court payment processing. The pilot was conducted at the Broadmeadows Magistrates’ Court, aiming to consolidate payment transactions, enhance reporting capabilities, and improve user experience..

Challenge
MCV required a secure, scalable, and user-friendly POS system to replace legacy payment processes. The solution needed to support a wide range of court transactions—such as fines, bail, and application fees—while integrating seamlessly with existing court operations and reporting requirements.
Solution
Mikani led the delivery of the CourtPOS pilot in collaboration with Strategic Executive Solutions and Surefire Systems. The solution included:
- A Windows-based POS interface for court staff
- Secure cloud-hosted infrastructure
- Real-time transaction processing and reporting
- Custom reporting tailored to MCV’s operational needs
- Integration with EFTPOS and support for various payment types
The pilot ran in parallel with existing systems, capturing live transactions and incorporating user feedback to refine functionality.
Results
- Over $18,000 in transactions processed in a single week
- Positive user feedback on interface usability and reporting features
- Successful handling of complex transactions such as bail refunds and court-specific fees
- Demonstrated scalability and adaptability for broader rollout
Outcome
Although the project concluded with a formal transition out in early 2019, the pilot validated the feasibility and benefits of a centralised POS system for Victoria’s courts. Mikani’s leadership ensured the project was delivered on time, with comprehensive documentation, knowledge transfer, and stakeholder engagement.
