Working with the Medical Practitioners we captured the requirements for a AI based medical transcription capability for patient consultations.
The solution had to meet explicit privacy, security and data management needs in addition to the specialised nature of medical records management.
Having identified the requirements a market scan of available solutions was performed – the solution had to be easy for the practitioners to utilise and be non-intrusive / non-threatening to patients.
In addition there was the requirement to integrate with the medical practices Electronic Medial Record system. The Australian product Heidi.AI was selected and implemented.
The process required a clearly defined change management and training program tailored to the needs of the medical practitioners.
As part of the implementation a series of templates were developed including: Medical Note (Initial and Subsequent Appointment/s), Letter to Referring Practitioner, Referral Letter to Practitioner, Referral Letter to Surgeon and Information Letter for Patient.
Upon successful implementation there has been significant time savings for the practitioners – in the order of 2+ hours per day in their normal administrative duties for medical record and letter preparation.
Subsequent to the implementation the practice is now looking to develop an AI strategy to scale the capability beyond medical records and into both diagnostic and administrative domains.
