Digital Transformation

We worked with Tasmanian businesses to assess the impacts and challenges arising from significant and ongoing freight and logistics disruptions.

Our team provided advice to the businesses suggesting potential short and longer-term improvements or solutions regarding freight logistics challenges.

We worked with relevant industry associations, the Tasmanian government, the freight and logistics industry as well as wider government and industry stakeholders to deliver the best possible advice and solutions for impacted Tasmanian businesses.

Engagement Objectives:

  • Help Tasmanian businesses to improve long-term competitiveness and viability through freight and logistics improvements, specific strategies to minimise supply chain disruption impact;
  • Promotion and identification of collaboration across businesses and industry sectors to support broader supply chain improvements and export channel strategies;
  • Working with Tasmanian businesses and the freight forwarder network to identify and execute freight aggregation opportunities to ensure available freight capacity is utilised fully at the best possible price levels, and;
  • Document future freight demand requirements by Tasmanian businesses to aid TEFLAS outcomes and short to medium term freight activities.

Primary Outcomes:

Through TEFLAS we developed a variety of alternate freight channel solutions, we identified potential cost saving initiatives as well as managing the impact of ongoing supply chain challenges on individual business entities.

During the 18 month project period TEFLAS supported and provided advice to over 200 Tasmanian businesses. A range of stakeholder forums, entity and industry association board meetings and presentations were conducted to promote TEFLAS, it’s free of charge service provision to business as well as providing freight and logistics updates to business and stakeholders. Consolidation and aggregation opportunities were a key agenda item at each group session.

Comparative cost issues from limited export options (compared to mainland competitors) were identified early. TEFLAS quickly realised investments for growth were being withheld, that demand and sales conversion was below average and that delivery inefficiencies were resulting in lost opportunity in both the B2B and growing B2C channels.
